To understand the care of lash extensions, you must have knowledge of the actual lash hair.
The average person NATURALLY sheds up to around 5 lashes a day. Just like the hair on the rest of your body, there are phases that your hair goes through.
ANAGEN - the new eyelash begins to form at the base (or bulb) of the hair follicle
CATAGEN - the transitional phase between growth and rest
TELOGEN - the resting phase, majority of your lashes are in this stage.
EXOGEN - the evicting phase, once the lash is full grown it will push out of the follicle for the anagen phase to begin again with a new growth in the base resulting in lashes shedding.
That‘s why it’s important to get fills around that 2-3 week mark, since not all of your lashes will be in the same growth stage. By the time you are going n your fill, there will be some lashes extensions that are now sitting at the tip of the natural lash instead of the base and will need to be removed and replaced.
Wearing eye makeup will result in buildup if not cleaned properly daily. Wearing lash adhesive on top of your extensions can cause an adverse reaction and will accumulate bacteria if not properly removed. Wearing mascara on lashes will also affect the retention, create buildup and can be difficult to remove resulting in picking or pulling both the lash extensions and natural lash.
Cleanse your lashes daily, brush your lashes daily, avoid putting anything on your eyelash extensions, do not pull, rub, pick off lashes. Book a removal to AVOID losing your natural lashes.
